Bangladesh is in the south-east of Asia. India and Myanmar are the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh. Its former name was East Pakistan. It got independence in 1971 from Pakistan. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. The total land area of the country is about 56,977 Sq. miles. It is a small country.I has a huge population. Bangladesh is a riverine country. There are so many rivers spread across the country. The big and well-known rivers are- the Padma, the Jamuna and the Meghna. The national language of the country is Bangla. Besides Bangla, there are many tribal languages too. The national symbols are Water lily, Royal Bangal tiger, Jackfruit, Hilsha fish and Magpie bird. Most of the people of the country are Muslim. There are many Hindus, Christians and Buddhists too. There is a close tie among the people of different religions. It is an agricultural country. Most of the people of the country are farmers. There are many glorious histories of Bangladesh. Among them, victory day, independent day and language movement day are remarkable. Bangladesh is my homeland. She is like my mother. বাংলাদেশ দক্ষিণ পূর্ব এশিয়ায় অবস্থিত। ভারত ও মিয়ানমার বাংলাদেশের প্রতিবেশী দেশ। এদেশের সাবেক নাম ছিল পূর্বপাকিস্তান।১৯৭১ সালে পাকিস্তান থেকে এদেশ স্বাধীন হয়। ঢাকা বাংলাদেশের রাজধানী। দেশটির মােট আয়তন প্রায় ৫৬,৯৭৭ বর্গ মাইল। এটি একটি ছােট দেশ। এর রয়েছে বিশাল জনসংখ্যা। বাংলাদেশ একটি নদীমাতৃক দেশ। অনেক নদী দেশের উপর ছড়িয়ে রয়েছে। বড় ও পরিচিত নদীগুলাে হচ্ছে- পদ্মা, যমুনা এবং মেঘনা। এদেশের জাতীয় ভাষা বাংলা। বাংলার পাশাপাশি এদেশে কতিপয় উপজাতীয় ভাষাও প্রচলিত রয়েছে। জাতীয় প্রতীক হচ্ছে- শাপলা, রয়েল বেঙ্গল টাইগার, কাঁঠাল, ইলিশ মাছ এবং দোয়েল। দেশের অধিকাংশ জনগােষ্ঠী মুসলমান। এখানে অনেক হিন্দু, বৌদ্ধ ও খ্রিস্টানও রয়েছে। বিভিন্ন ধর্মের মানুষের মধ্যে রয়েছে এক গভীর বন্ধন। এটি একটি কৃষি প্রধান দেশ। দেশের অধিকাংশ মানুষই কৃষক। বাংলাদেশের অনেক গৌরবােজ্জ্বল ইতিহাস রয়েছে। তন্মধ্যে বিজয় দিবস, স্বাধীনতা দিবস এবং ভাষা আন্দোলন দিবস,উল্লেখযােগ্য। বাংলাদেশ আমার দেশ। সে আমার মায়ের মতাে। আমি তার সর্বাঙ্গীণ মঙ্গল কামনা করছি।
